Farewell Cesc Fabregas

Cesc joins Barcelona on
a five year contract.

Yesterday FC Barcelona announced the signing of Arsenal Captain and long time transfer target Cesc Fabregas. The announcement brought the end of the Spaniards eight years of loyal service.
Many Arsenal fans will have fond memories of Fabregas such as ‘that’ goal against Spurs or the penalty against Barcelona in the champions’ league to name a couple. Whilst many Arsenal fans ‘mourn’ the loss of Cesc it is time for them to move on. Predicting that Fabregas would one day play for Barcelona was like predicting that Tuesday comes after Monday. Many critics have suggested that the club will struggle as a result of Cesc’s departure which along with that of Samir Nasri they believe will leave Arsenal’s midfield thin and inexperienced.  I, however, do not feel this is the case. Last season rookie midfielders Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey came of age and this season it is the turn of Emmanuel Frimpong to step up. Not only will young players come through but older players will up their game in a bid to stay at the club. The opening game of the season at St James’s park showed that Thomas Rosicky is going to be one of those players. Arsene Wenger has expressed that the club are not interested in Jadson and Juan Mata despite many rumours claiming bids have been made for them. So whilst the remaining few distraught fans dry their tears it is time for the rest of us to move on, remembering that Arsenal Football Club is bigger than any player and the sale of ‘el Capitan’ is not the end of the clubs history; it has existed for 125 years and will exist for at least that amount more. Farewell Cesc, thank you and good luck for the future.
