First team - Player Profiles




Manuel Almunia - The mistake prone Spaniard joined Arsenal in 2004, as a relatively unknown player. After many more appearances than expected, let's just say he isn't a fans favorite. 


Abou Diaby - A lot was expected from the Frenchman, transferred from Rennes in 2006. Many people had given comparisons to Club legend Patrick Viera, but after struggling to cement a first team place, the defensive midfielder is merely a back up player.


Bacary Sagna - Arguably Arsenal's most reliable player. Bacary has been instrumental for the Gunners since Wenger captured his signature, and is recognized as one of the best right backs not only in the league, but even in the world.


Mikel Arteta - Dramatically signed for the Gunners on transfer deadline day, the former Everton man will add Premier League experience with a little Spanish flair in to the midfield.


Thomas Vermaelen - TV5 is a really big player for Arsenal. In his first season he was astonishing all year round. He cruelly missed last season, and didn't we know it.


Laurent Koscielny - The form Lorient defender has settle in to life in the Premier League really well. Despite early blunders and red cards, Koscielny had become a vital player for Arsenal, playing well week in, week out, and most noticeably in the Champions League against Barcelona.


Tomas Rosicky - Signed in 2006 to replace Robert Pires, the midfielder had a good start to his Arsenal career, but has recently fallen out of favour with Arsene Wenger.


Andre Santos - The Brazilian full back was signed for Arsenal in a matter of hours after the departure of Armand Traore. It will be very interesting to see him and Gibbs competing for the left back position.


Robin Van Persie - Definitely one of the most skillful and technically able players in the squad, RVP enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career last season, despite being sidlined for the first half of it. He will be hoping to take his amazing form in to the new campaign.


Yossi Benayoun - The Isreali captain has been signed on a one season loan deal, with the option to make the move perminant. The tricky, versitile playmaker will be a good player for Arsenal, adding some much needed depth to the squad.


Theo Walcott - Theo really can be a league winner this season, just as long as he stays injury free and plays consistently. The forward himself has admitted that he would like to play a more central role, and the new season will tell what awaits him.


Carlos Vela - The skillful Mexican has had a hard time at Arsenal. Despite Wenger seemingly wanting to give him a chance in the first team by giving him the number 12 shirt, the forward was once again loaned out. At West Brom he didn't enjoy himself, as manager Roy Hodgson took a defensive approach to his games.


Aaron Ramsey - Once descibed as one of the brightest Bristish talents, Ramsey suffered a horrific injury from a terrible Ryan Shawcross. Despite of this, Ramsey came back strong, making two loan spells to Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City respectively. He seemed sharp, and is now pipped by many to be Cesc Fabregas' successor.


Alex Song - The strong Congolese was a vital part of Arsenal's 2010/11 season, acting as the defensive cover Jack Wilshere and Cesc Fabregas needed.


Sebastian Squilacci - Sebastien is a tall, strong and vastly-experienced central defender who has made 36 appearances in the Champions League, as well as tallying 21 caps for his country.  Despite of this, he didn't experience the best of first seasons, His spell has been riddled with mistakes, making him far from a fans favorite.


Jack Wilshere - The young midfielder broke through for both Club and country last season, showing that he has what it takes to become one of the best in the world. He was voted Supporters' Player of the Year by Arsenal fans.


Johan Djourou - Johan was given his chance last year, due to the injury of Thomas Vermaelen and the poor form Of Seb Squilacci. He took it well, impressing on many occasions, but knows he will have to improve even more to cement a starting place next year. 


Joel Campbell - Campbell was signed after a very impressive run for his national team, Costa Rica. Arsenal battled with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United for the strikers signature, and he looks set to have a very bright future at the club. Joel will spend this season on loan, after Arsenal's application for a work permit was rejected.


Andrei Arshavin - A transfer deadline day capture from Russia, the winger didn't play as well as he knos he can last season, despite grabbing a considerable amount of assists. He aims to do better this term.


Kieran Gibbs - Gael Clichy's successor, Kieran will be hoping to take his chance in the left back spot this season. He is an amazing player getting forward, but needs to get better at his positioning.


Marouane Chamakh - Joining on a free transfer, the Moroccan enjoyed a delightful start to the 2011/12 campaign. He then fell out of favour after the fine form of Van Persie and his struggle adapting to the English game.


Park Chu Young - Monaco's star man for several years, Park brings experience and, being South Korea's captain, leadership to Arsenal. It's unfortunate the forward has to go for military service in 2013, though.


Wojchiech Sczcesny - A breakthrough season for the young pole, after injury to Lukasz Fabianski and Manuel Almunia. He sure took hiss chance, and looks set to be Arsenal's number 1 for years to come.


Ryo Miyaichi - Having enjoyed a brilliant loan spell at Feyenoord, the Japanese starlet looks set to be a great Arsenal player. He has been granted his conditional work permit, and Wenger has said he will be given his chance this season.


Gervinho - The big Ivorian signed for the Gunners for around £10.7 million, having had an impressive season with Ligue 1 champions Lille. He scored twice one his debut, and already looks very impressive.


Carl Jenkinson - The part Finnish right back has performed well for Arsenal so far, after his £1 million move from Charlton. The promising player hopes to push Sagna for that right back position.


Alex Oxlade - Chamberlain - Bought for a fee of around £15, AOC hopes to emulate his impresses performances for Southampton at Arsenal, and that of Theo Walcott.


Per Mertesacker - Per is a very dominant, tall, experienced centre back. The German international was purchased on deadline day, he is sure to strengthen the back line.
